ESPIT (Essential Surgical Procedures in Trauma)
History & Mission
The KARPET (Korean Association for Research, Procedures and Education on Trauma) was founded in South Korea 2014. At that time the KARPET developed a new surgical education program for trauma named ESPIT (Essential Surgical Procedures in Trauma) including lecture, ultrasonography with a standardized patient (eFAST), a dry lab for airway management, animal lab with swine for decision making in trauma. Also, the KARPET is dedicated to the exchange of knowledge, innovation, and experience in the trauma field.
It aims to promote:
- High standards of practice in the art of trauma surgery
- Support the advancement of science among specialties through case discussion
- Support the basic and specialty fields of trauma management
- Facilitate the exchange of ideas on a formal and informal basis and establish collegiality
